About Us
A Lifelong Love of Music, Art & Vinyl
Music and art have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember.
Over the years, I’ve worn quite a few different hats — from busking on the streets of Glasgow and studying art, to working as a freelance visual artist and music & arts coordinator for a local authority. I’ve also spent many years as a full-time musician and songwriter.
So when hand surgery in 2020 meant I had to put the guitar down for a while, it seemed only natural to turn my attention to another of my great loves — vinyl records.
My Vinyl Story
My love of records started in the very early 1980s.
One of the first records I remember buying with my own money was a Tygers of Pan Tang picture disc. To be honest, I was probably just as interested in the artwork as I was in the music!
Before long, I was buying records by AC/DC and Iron Maiden, before discovering bands like The Smiths, Tears for Fears and Echo & the Bunnymen, along with countless other artists whose music I still enjoy today.
I carried on buying vinyl throughout the CD boom of the 1990s and, over the years, built up a personal collection of several thousand records. When I moved to Stirling, I decided it was finally time to start thinning the collection out. I began selling records at fairs and online, which seemed like a sensible way to clear some space and pass records on to other music lovers.
There was just one problem…I was still buying almost as many records as I was selling!
And that’s how The Record Hide came about. What started with a lifelong love of music and collecting has grown into a small, independent business built around two things I really enjoy — finding great records and meeting fellow music lovers.
I know from personal experience that a record collection is rarely just a bunch of meaningless records. Behind those sleeves are memories, discoveries, favourite bands, first concerts, teenage obsessions and sometimes decades of collecting. That’s why, when you’re looking to sell your vinyl records, I believe the process should be straightforward, friendly and fair.
Whether you have a small collection tucked away in the loft or thousands of records accumulated over a lifetime, I’m always happy to take a look. I pride myself on offering fair prices and treating every collection with the respect it deserves. If you’re thinking about selling your records, get in touch. I’d be delighted to hear from you and have a chat about what you have.
